Real Time Election Results

After having spent all morning counting ballots Downtown at the Board of Elections, I am sad to announce that from my count, Luke Ravenstahl will be the Republican nominee for the general election in November. So he will have both the Democratic and Republican nominations and be on both sides of the ballot!

How disturbing for Pittsburgh to have only one candidate to vote for. What happened to democracy? To a two party system?

Isn't it sad that with thousands of special interest dollars you can buy a nomination?

When will pittsburghers wake up?

Fortunately, we have Kevin Acklin running as an independent to vote for...

Stay tuned for more details of the election results!

The results were as follows: (disclaimer- these are not the official results, but they are as accurate as can be obtained from reading the tapes)

Luke Ravenstahl - 497
Josh Wander - 147
Others - 245
Absentee ballots (uncounted) - 241

This of course gives a clear lead to Luke as I ran too late to have any absentees. Also, it is interesting to note that the majority of 'others' were for Pat Dowd. (I guess as protest votes!) There were also quite a few for Carmen Robinson...

Election Results

Unfortunately, the results of my write in campaign will not be officially released until June 8th. On a positive note, it is VERY encouraging that 1,130 Republicans in the city of Pittsburgh showed up and cast their write-in ballots! If Luke gets what he got last time, (I'm told 355 Republican write ins) it looks as if WE WON!!!!

Stay tuned for more information and thank you to all those who supported me.

Facebook and the Elections

I was trying to figure out what was Facebooks incentive in having an 'I voted' button...and it just dawned on me...I bet they are collecting the information running it against the political afiliation and selling it as live running exit polls...pretty smart, huh?

Political Vandelism

Just putting this out in case there are others with my problem. I am a supporting McCain/Palin supporter in this election and I am not ashamed to say it. Unfortunately, my neighborhood is predominantly made up of Obama supporters. This in itself is not a major problem. But when freedom of expression is stifled (yeah I know I'm going to hear from the opposition about Palin's book banning...) things have gone to far!

I would not even think of willing destroying someone else's property, but it seems that some over zealous Obama supporters do not share my ideals.

I have had my cars broken into, keyed, scratched and McCain signs ripped off. I have heard of fellow supporters in my neighborhood (btw, its considered a very good neighborhood) complain of similar issues. Signs torn down and stolen from yards, property vandalized. I wonder if anyone is keeping track of all the election related violence around the country? Is this phenomenen getting worse or is it just my imagination?

This is all very disturbing...What happened to respect for the Democratic (sic) process?

If you have a similar story (on either side of the political spectrum) please post it and let me know...

Election clarification

Clarification:

I admit it, I am a conservative. I am a Republican. But when election time comes around I become liberal. Not a Liberal, with a capital 'L', but a non-sectarian citizen that wants people to cast their ballots regardless of their political leanings. I encourage everyone to get out and vote, because I believe in the democratic process regardless of each individuals personal beliefs. When more people go to the polls, the country, collectively becomes a representative or "liberal democracy". This is the ideal that so many Americans pride themselves on, but so few participate in...So, do your civic duty on the May 15th primary and vote your conscience!
