Real Time Election Results

After having spent all morning counting ballots Downtown at the Board of Elections, I am sad to announce that from my count, Luke Ravenstahl will be the Republican nominee for the general election in November. So he will have both the Democratic and Republican nominations and be on both sides of the ballot!

How disturbing for Pittsburgh to have only one candidate to vote for. What happened to democracy? To a two party system?

Isn't it sad that with thousands of special interest dollars you can buy a nomination?

When will pittsburghers wake up?

Fortunately, we have Kevin Acklin running as an independent to vote for...

Stay tuned for more details of the election results!

The results were as follows: (disclaimer- these are not the official results, but they are as accurate as can be obtained from reading the tapes)

Luke Ravenstahl - 497
Josh Wander - 147
Others - 245
Absentee ballots (uncounted) - 241

This of course gives a clear lead to Luke as I ran too late to have any absentees. Also, it is interesting to note that the majority of 'others' were for Pat Dowd. (I guess as protest votes!) There were also quite a few for Carmen Robinson...
