A former state constable announced yesterday he is seeking the Republican nomination for the 5th District City Council seat.
Josh Wander, 40, of Squirrel Hill is self-employed. From 2003-07, he was a state constable in White Oak, and is a Republican committeeman.
In a prepared statement, Wander said that "his firm belief in ... limited government and lower taxes are what separates him from the other local candidates who are part of a party whose reckless financial spending bankrupted this once-proud city."
Doug Shields is the city councilman for the 5th District, which includes Squirrel Hill, Greenfield, New Homestead, Hazelwood, and parts of Point Breeze, Lincoln Place, Hays, Glen Hazel, Swisshelm Park, Glenwood and Regent Square.
